My main research interests are concerned with the ecology of decapodcrustaceans:
(a) biology, distribution and ecology of epibenthic decapod crustaceanson the shelf and upper slope: population structure and variability, reproductivebiology, recruitment.
(b) behavioural ecology of littoral crustaceans: activity and moultingrhythms, reproductive behaviour, settlement, ...
(c) larval and postlarval ecology of brachyuran crabs: neuston, meroplanktonicmegalopae, settlement and recruitment; morphology of larval stages.
Recent specific research subjects include:
- Settlement and juvenile habitat of the European Spiny Lobster, Palinuruselephas.
- Activity and physiological rhythms of Norway lobster, Nephropsnorvegicus, in the Mediterranean, both in the field and in the laboratory.
- Population biology of caridean shrimps (Plesionika spp.) onthe trawlable bottoms off the Iberian Peninsula
- Synchronization of moulting activity with circatidal and circasemilunarcycles in megalopae, juvenile and adult shore crabs Carcinus maenasin Wales.
- Variability in population structure of Carcinus maenas ina shallow Danish fjord
- Neuston ecology: distribution and behaviour of crab megalopae offthe Catalan coasts; population biology of the isopod Idotea metallica
- Faunistics of decapod and stomatopod crustaceans in the western Mediterranean
- Seabird ecology (relationships between seabird distribution, fisheriesand oceanographical parameters).
