My PhD research is focused on improving the understanding of active geological processes in the Alboran Sea. In particular, the aim is to characterise in detail the main active faults systems in the area to obtain more realistic marine geohazard models. To achieve this goal, very- and ultra-high-resolution technologies for seafloor exploration will be used, including: swath bathymetry, remotely operated vehicle (ROV), autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV), high-resolution seismic profiles, and sediment sampling. In addition, analogue experiments and numerical modelling will be performed. This work will be done in the framework of the STRENGTH Spanish national project.
