The Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM, CSIC), a ‘Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence’, is the largest marine research institution in Spain, with a leading role in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean region.
The ICM is currently seeking outstanding established researchers willing to continue their career in Barcelona and apply for an ICREA Senior Call position. Candidacies received will be evaluated and ranked by the Scientific Strategy Committee of the center. Selected candidates could negotiate a welcome package, if the position is granted.
ICREA offers permanent positions in the Catalan research system for senior researchers. The selected researchers are offered a position as ICREA Research Professors (equivalent to tenure) and become ICREA employees. ICREA researchers go through an evaluation process (promotion) at regular intervals throughout their entire career.
ICREA opens 20 senior research positions in the following areas: Experimental Sciences & Mathematics and Engineering Sciences. Minimum requirements are a Ph.D. degree obtained preferably before 2021, with relevant multinational exposure at pre-doctoral and/or post-doctoral level. Candidates in an expansive phase of their academic career, with an outstanding research record and leadership are encouraged to apply. ICREA researchers are required to make substantial contributions to their own areas of research and to have a strong impact in the Catalan research system by becoming fully involved, active members of the Catalan research community. Applications from women are especially welcome. For further details on the ICREA Senior Call, please visit the official website.
Located in Barcelona, the ICM is a multidisciplinary marine research center, including research on marine physics, marine geosciences, marine biology, marine chemistry, fisheries and aquaculture management, and technological development. ICM’s research encompasses theoretical, numerical and experimental approaches, with field work and cruises in the Mediterranean and all world’s oceans. The ‘Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence’ accreditation has recognized the ICM leadership in marine research with a relevant commitment to generating social and business impact.
