Umar Farouk Mustapha has been a Postdoctoral fellow at the ICM-CSIC since January 2023 with the group of Reproductive Physiology and Environmental Epigenetics. He received his MSc and Ph.D. degrees in Aquaculture Science (Option: Physiology and Endocrinology) from China. His current research focuses on using liquid tissues as surrogates to infer conditions of the difficult-to-access internal tissues and the effect of intrinsic and extrinsic factors on sexual fate. He has authored over 30 publications in scientific journals. He has developed molecular markers for spotted scat sex determination with a patent. Google Scholar's total citation of his works is over 480, h-index =11, from 2018 to February 2024.
