My area of expertise is marine geophysics. I work on seismic data modeling, and particularly on the methodological development, implementation and improvement of travel-time based inversion tools to retrieve the physical properties of the Earth’s interior. I have developed a 3-D joint refraction and reflection travel-time tomography code for controlled-source data that can work in both isotropic and VTI anisotropic media. Currently my main research interest is earthquake data inversion. My goal is the improvement of the aforementioned tomographic inversion tool so that it can combine passive and active data. The reasons behind this strategy are (1) the enhanced recovery of subsurface models thanks to the better ray coverage provided by the combination of both types of data, and (2) the refinement of the earthquake hypocentral relocation on 3-D velocity models.
