My research sits between the established disciplines of biodiversity, ecology, chemical ecology and conservation palaeoecology in the context of the global change using understudied calcifying marine invertebrate species as models. My current research aims (a) to present new data on species richness and the spatial patterns from poorly known regions, (b) to evaluate the ecological and applied effects of their natural compounds, (c) to deepen current understanding of their skeletal geochemistry so that we can assess better how they will respond to global change and (d) to assess the use of their fossil assemblages and stable isotopes incorporated into their skeletons as proxies to reconstruct past environmental changes
