My scientific interests are land-ocean interactions and their effects on the coastal zone, particularly the eutrophication process. For 20 years, I’ve worked on marine water quality assessments and anthropogenic impacts identification. Accordingly, I’ve been involved in the implementation of the Water Framework Directive and the Marine Strategy Framework Directive. Since 2018, I’ve started using remote sensing technics to improve these assessments, as required by the above Directives. Specifically, to retrieve water quality indicators by means of ocean colour data from high resolution satellites.
