The Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM) is the largest marine research centre of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). About the role and the team

We are recruiting an enthusiastic and highly motivated professional as Junior Knowledge transfer Officer at the ICM. The successful candidate will join the Knowledge Transfer Unit.  The unit is aimed at providing comprehensive and structured support to ICM researchers during the process of knowledge transfer, from contract negotiation to IPR protection. All activities are aligned with the ICM institutional strategy and reported directly to the Deputy Director of Social Impact.

Job description

The successful candidate will be involved in several tasks that include:

  • Scouting of results suitable for industrial exploitation.

  • Support in Intellectual Property protection and strategy.

  • Promotion of the technologies and capabilities of the Institute.

  • Diffusion of valorization funding programs. 

  • Promotion of spin-offs creation.

  • Promotion/negotiation of collaborative and services agreements with companies.

  • Management of documents related to Knowledge Transfer.

  • Contribute to increase the innovation and business culture of researchers.

Expected background and skills

  • Degree in Science (marine science or similar).

  • At least six months of previous experience in similar roles.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English, Spanish and Catalan.

  • Good skills in document elaboration and proofreading.

  • Very good interpersonal communication.

  • Well-organized person with attention to details and multi-task capacity.

  • Proactive, flexible, problem-solving and team-player attitudes.

  • IT skills (proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital communication tools).

  • Willingness to travel occasionally.

We will value

  • PhD in Science.

  • Experience in marine science research ecosystem.

  • Experience in blue economy ecosystem.

  • Knowledge of Intellectual Property field.

  • Formation related to business and/or innovation.

The offer

  • Full-time indefinite contract
  • Salary between 26.000-33.000 euros/year (14 annual payments) consistent with CSIC pay scales.
