Brief biography
Carlos Mallo Molina is a dedicated Spanish entrepreneur and conservationist committed to the protection of the oceans. His passion for the marine environment began in his childhood in Galicia, where he explored marine life while snorkeling. He studied Civil, Canal, and Port Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and after working on construction projects in Tenerife and Birmingham, he decided to dedicate his life to marine conservation. He founded Innoceana in Thailand, focusing on projects such as the installation of weather stations, GPS buoys, and water quality assessment. Since relocating to Costa Rica, Carlos has expanded the reach of Innoceana, leading innovative initiatives such as 3D coral mapping and the reduction of plastics in the oceans. Currently based in Barcelona, he coordinates an international team that works on various research and environmental education projects globally. His leadership has been instrumental in developing pioneering methodologies for the restoration of marine ecosystems and in fostering awareness and sustainable practices within society, leaving an inspiring legacy in marine conservation.
