The geological collections include marine sediment samples and seismic profiles. They represent a scientific heritage and greatly enhance their secondary use for many other geomarine and environmental studies. The collection management includes a proper curator and updating of metadata in a GeoPortal. The marine sediments and seismic profiles collections at the ICM-CSIC Cores comprise data collected from the 80s. They were collected in the framework of scientific projects in the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic and Antarctic oceans. The sediment cores are at cold chamber rooms, temperature (4-5°C) and constant humidity, and equipped with a temperature control alarm system. There is also an area for sediment and rock sample dry storage. In addition to the repository rooms, there is an opening sediment core lab with several instruments such as a core splitter, a multi-sensor core logger as well as a variety of sediment lab supplies (binoculars, sieves,…). The collection of seismic records comprises multi- and single-channel profiles that provide detailed images of the subbottom with different degrees of resolution. Their format is digital and hard copy.
