Studies on ecology and dynamics of planktonic stages of marine fishes, with particular attention to pelagic and mesopelagic fishes. Research on the rationships between ichthyoplankton and the rest of plankton, and the effects of hydrography on spatial and temporal distribution patterns of ichthyoplankton. Assessment of physiological condition of larvae. Studies on taxonomy and systematic of early life history stages of teleostean fishes. Research mesopelagic fish are occupying prominent place in my interest. I have been working both in biogeography and patterns of vertical migration and aggregations of this important group of fishes, and on their function in the marine food chains.
