The initiative aims to develop novel indicators to monitor Mediterranean marine microbial biodiversity from space through omics and artificial intelligence.
A study involving the ICM-CSIC has identified a unique set of genes that allows marine teleosts fishes to hydrate their eggs so that they float and disperse for survival in the oceans.
This will be done through the new operational oceanography service of ICATMAR, a cooperative body between ICM-CSIC and the Generalitat de Catalunya that aims to provide scientific advice on maritime issues, promote cooperation and boost marine research.
