My research expertise is on fisheries biology. In particular, I use mathematical modelling to study the dynamics of marine exploited populations. The purely biological models are integrated with economic models to take into account the human dimension of the ecosystem in the form of fisheries bioeconomic models, which is the main focus of my current research. My research is mostly funded from EU projects. I have been participating in EU projects for the last 20 years, with administrative and scientific responsibilities. The results of my research have immediate applicability interest to the fishing industry exploiting marine living resources in the Mediterranean sea.
