With a background in Physics and Electronics Engineering, I’ve been working at the Spanish Research Council (CSIC) since 2001, specializing in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and data management for marine and polar research. Over the years, I’ve supported a wide range of multidisciplinary scientific projects, from geophysics and oceanography to biology, climatology, cartography, and glaciology, both onboard research vessels and at Antarctic stations. Onshore, I’ve also led IT infrastructure initiatives to promote FAIR-aligned research data management. Currently, I lead the Scientific Computing Service at the Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM-CSIC), where we provide access to High Performance Computing (HPC) and hierarchical data storage designed for marine research. Our mission is to support efficient, shared, and sustainable use of advanced computational resources, enabling large-scale data analysis through virtual research environments.
