My objective is to characterize novel factors involved in the onset of meiosis by studying changes in the testicular transcriptome during key events of puberty. I also study the effect of different environmental contaminants to reveal possible mechanistic explanations that bridge the gap between reproductive endocrinology and toxicology. The studies are developed in sea bass, a cultured model fish with a very high proportion of males and of precocious puberty. The ultimate goal will be to develop tools that integrate different “omic” analysis to improve the understanding of spermatogenesis.
