My research expertise is on marine geology and oceanography. In particular, I study the impacts of deep-sea trawling on the sedimentary dynamics of Mediterranean submarine canyons. For this purpose, I analyze temporal series of oceanographic data acquired with instruments (turbidimeters, currentmeters) deployed in submarine canyons close to fishing grounds, with the main goal to monitor sediment transport processes and identify the contribution of trawling to sediment fluxes. I also work with vessel positioning data (AIS, VMS) to monitor the spatial and temporal distribution of the fishing fleet, and link the position of the fishing vessels to sediment transport events that occur within canyons.
