10 public schools, four of them in rural areas, are participating in this educational project led by Laia Ribas, a researcher at the Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM-CSIC).
They are part of Stanford University's ‘Ranking of the World Scientists: World's Top 2% Scientists’, which highlights the most relevant scientists in the world according to the citations received in their publications.
The Institute will support more than 200 schools through the ProBleu and BlueLightS projects, promoting ocean literacy.
The centre will strengthen the connection between ocean research and society, offering activities for the general public, educators, artists, government bodies, and businesses.
The project aims to unravel changes in Arctic freshwater and ocean currents using advanced remote sensing and AI technologies.
The work, in which the ICM has participated, represents an artistic and scientific journey that explores the importance of marine microbes in the Earth's climate regulation.
