Òscar Ordeig took advantage of the visit to learn about strategic projects and tour the centre’s facilities.
The journal Nature Ecology and Evolution has featured his research on symbiosis and cell evolution, published last March in the journal Cell, in its ‘Year in Review’ section, which highlights the 10 most relevant scientific advances of 2024.
10 public schools, four of them in rural areas, are participating in this educational project led by Laia Ribas, a researcher at the Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM-CSIC).
They are part of Stanford University's ‘Ranking of the World Scientists: World's Top 2% Scientists’, which highlights the most relevant scientists in the world according to the citations received in their publications.
The Institute will support more than 200 schools through the ProBleu and BlueLightS projects, promoting ocean literacy.
The centre will strengthen the connection between ocean research and society, offering activities for the general public, educators, artists, government bodies, and businesses.
